About this project

ArtZuid is an art event with a sculpture route through Amsterdam. It takes place every year during the summer period. The sculptures are displayed in the stately avenues of Berlage's Plan-Zuid and the parks designed in the 1990s by landscape architect Michael van Gessel. This is a unique backdrop of the exceptional architecture of the Amsterdam School to exhibit art from internationally renowded artists.

With 58 sculptures on a two and a half hour walk this event is perfectly suitable for a mobile application for its visitors. During their tour visitors can explore information about the sculptures and the participating artists. Each sculpture location is pinpointed in a fully functional offline interactive map which stays up-to-date on exhibition highlights. Because we integrated social media, visitors can share their opinion with their friends and family.

Thirsty, hungry or sleepy visitors can get hotel and restaurant information based on their location. And the app also provides online offline data synchronisation.

For those who would like to enjoy more background information, there is an audiotour available in Dutch, English and French. The audiotour can be unlocked with an in-app purchase. This purchase also provides an educational programme in Dutch.

We have developped this app with qualitative features in just two weeks. This was because we, and Stichting ArtZuid, really needed it to be available in the App Store at the start of ArtZuid at 27 May. Considering all of it's features and the fact that it is sponsored project, it was quite an achievement.
